No wonder cricketers gain so much fame and popularity and are regularly followed and sought after. Just as important it is to make runs, it is equally important in a match to take wickets.

Here is a list of the cricketers who took the highest wicket takers in T20 matches ever since displaying awesome cricket and sportsmanship!

  1. Saeed Ajmal – Pakistan

Cricket seems to have got the better of Pakistan with players from this team making and breaking records from different category. Well Saeed Ajmal tops this list with a record of 60 wickets in 42 matches. This exceptional performance has been acknowledged by the cricket enthusiasts many a times as others wait to reach the line and break this record.

  1. Shahid Khan Afridi – Pakistan

At number 2 again is a very famous player from Pakistan. Popularly known as Shahid Afridi, he has been a scare-crow for many players from other teams. He holds the record of taking 58 wickets in 60 T20 matches. Incredible performance indeed!

  1. Umar Gul – Pakistan

This star performer again from the Pakistan cricket team has gained worldwide fame by taking home the title of leading wicket taker and bowler in T20 world championships in both 2007 and 2009. He has a score of 57 wickets in just 42 matches and is surely a world fame in the world of cricket.

  1. GP Swann – England

The fourth highest wicket taker of T20 matches is this English cricketer Graeme Peter Swann is a right arm offspinner who holds a record of 41 wickets in 32 matches. Truly world class performer, Swann displays absolute perfection in his game and is a celebrated player world over.

  1. Stuart Broad – England

The present captain of the England T20 Team, Stuart Christopher Broad is one of the well known test and T20 players of England. He is a left-handed batsman and a right arm seam bowler who stands at number 5 on this list with 41 wickets in 36 matches.

  1. Ajantha Mendis

Sri Lanka brings forward their cricket star to stand at number 6 in this list with this great bowler from their team. Balapuwaduge Ajantha Winslo Mendis is known to be a master of all bowling tricks including googlies, off-breaks, flippers, leg-breaks, etc. He has a record of 41 wickets taken in 21 matches.

  1. Lasith Malinga

The name alone brings other teams to get worried, Separamadu Lasith Malinga is a Sri Lankan fast bowler whom many cricketers are scared to face. With a rare sling action of his arm, he has been nicknamed Slinga Malinga. He stands at number 7 on this list with 40 wickets in 33 matches.

The Kiwis have gained the 8th spot on this list with Nathan Leslie McCullum. He is a right hand lower order batsman and right arm off-break bowler who also plays at state level. He stands at number 8 with 36 wickets in 34 matches.
