The Best TV Commercials For Cars In India

TV is a popular medium for brand promotion.

It is the best way to reach out to a large target audience.

With innumerable channels playing countless advertisements, it is not possible to remember each of them. However, some commercials do strike a chord and succeed in creating a special place in the hearts of the viewers.

We take a walk down memory lane and catch a glimpse of the unforgettable car advertisements on TV.

Tata Nano:

Promoted as the ‘Khushiyon ki Gaadi’ Tata showcased the car as an affordable hatchback that would help celebrate unforgettable moments with one’s family. It shows a couple going on a long drive with kids and during the smooth journey the children fight, play, and finally fall asleep. Tata endorsed the Nano as a family car apt for long journeys. The advertisement connected well with its target audience – the middle class Indian.

Hyundai i10:

Any advertisement that features the ‘Bollywood Badshah’ Shahrukh Khan undoubtedly becomes a classic. The South Korean car manufacturer roped in the superstar for promoting its i10 model. In the advertisement, Shahrukh during a film shoot proposes to his lady-love imagining the car and calls her i10 too!

Suzuki India Car:

Maruti Suzuki created this commercial to promote all its models and attempted to portray people from various walks of life returning home using their cars, including army men, families, a student on a Diwali vacation, and more. The company captioned it as ‘India Comes Home in a Maruti Suzuki” which created a great impact among the viewers.

Maruti Suzuki Wagon-R:

Featuring actors Madhavan, Raghu Ram, and Rajiv Laxman the advertisement concentrated on its tag line – ‘Big like India, smart like you’. While Raghu and Rajiv emphasized on the space and comfort of the car, Madhavan shows his smartness by walking away with the girl! We seldom see these three talented actors in commercials and their presence did leave a mark.

Renault Fluence:

TV actor Harsh Chhaya in this commercial stands stranded on the road and gets a lift in the Renault Fluence to the petrol pump and back. After the comfortable ride in this car he put his own four-wheeler on fire with the same fuel that he had bought to refill it! The unexpected climax created the expected impact and made the commercial a memorable one.

There are a host of other advertisements that have mesmerized spectators, such as the ‘silent’ commercial from Volkswagen, the Kapil Sharma starrer Hondo Mobilio ad, a to-be-married couple fighting inside a Ford Figo, and more.
