Anita Dongre at Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2013

Opening up to the live notes of Sona Mohapatra, Anita Dongre’s collection featured saris, lehengas, jackets, palazzo pants and classic salwar kameezes. The designer also reinterprets the bandi, a classis menswear garment, into bridal wear.

The Jaipur bride by Anita Dongre celebrated a bold, modern and independent woman who challenges convention yet loves tradition.

The Rajasthan-cum-Jantar Mantar-inspired collection showcased bridal lehengas with geometrical synergy portraying the architectural splendor of the famous structure.

While the collection showcased a new age Indian bride who was not afraid to live life her way, what also added spunk to the show was Sona Mohapatra’s high-energy music. The singer, music composer and lyricist curated a special set of songs – folk, thumris and Sufiana Kalam – to complement the design aesthetics of the fashion connoisseur.
