Look Who’s Talking: Kumar Vishwas Claims BJP Wants To Make Him Delhi CM

Someone just woke up. He is day dreaming too. And no, it is not Rahul Gandhi.

Someone just woke up. He is day dreaming too. And no, it is not Rahul Gandhi.

Aam Aadmi Party leader and poet Kumar Vishwas has come out of hiding. That too with a tall claim. According to Vishwas, the Bhartiya Janata Party is trying to woo him for government formation in Delhi.

Well, there is nothing new in such claim. The elections in Delhi seem nowhere on the cards, yet the AAP has been coming out with such regular claims of horse-trading. But what Vishwas further claimed was a little indigestible.

Vishwas has claimed that the BJP offered to make him the chief minister of Delhi. Of course, he declined the offer.

“On August 19, a BJP MLA who is also an old friend had come to my house after elections. I thought he had come to either congratulate or sympathise as I had lost the (general) election. But he told me that his party wanted me to accept the post of chief minister. He also told me he was meeting me at the behest of the BJP leadership,” Vishwas told a news channel.

Vishwas said he refused to accept the offer and immediately informed his party colleague. However, he said he would not divulge the BJP legislator’s name.

It should be noted that Vishwas is neither an MLA from Delhi, nor was he a part of the Arvind Kejriwal-led 49 day Delhi government. He fought against Rahul Gandhi and Smriti Irani from Amethi in the Lok Sabha elections and came a distant third despite camping in the area for over a month.

Also, it has been more than 10 days since “a BJP MLA” allegedly offered CM post to Vishwaas. Where was he till now?

Given such stats, his claims look more funny than genuine.

After his claims, AAP tweeted the regular stuff it tweets after every such claim made by its party members. “AAP has consistently said that BJP in its desperation to form government has been using all tricks to approach our leaders but failed. AAP has provided evidence whenever a specific news has broken out.

“Kumar Vishwas has done the right thing in going public. AAP requests BJP to drop politics of manipulation and restore democratic rights of people by joining call for elections. Let people decide,” the party tweeted.

However, Vishwas’ remarks come amid fresh speculation about government formation in Delhi with the the Aam Aadmi Party cautioning the Lt Governor against initiating any “unconstitutional” move by inviting BJP to take a shot at power as the party does not have the required numbers.

AAP had a spectacular debut winning 28 seats in Delhi assembly elections and had later formed the government with outside support from Congress’ eight MLAs after a referendum on the same.

BJP, along with its ally Akali Dal’s one MLA, had won 32seats in the 70-member assembly. The number of BJP MLAs has come down to 28 as three party legislators Harsh Vardhan, Ramesh Bidhuri and Pervesh Verma have been elected to Lok Sabha.

The government led by Arvind Kejriwal had resigned on February 14 after the party’s pet project, the Janlokpal Bill, could not be passed due to opposition from BJP and Congress.

President’s Rule was imposed in Delhi on February 17.

The Lt Governor had not favoured dissolution of the 70-member Delhi assembly as recommended by the Council of Ministers headed by Kejriwal and kept the assembly in suspended animation.
