UEFA Champions League winners Real Madrid on Tuesday signed Colombian and Monaco forward James Rodriguez, the top scorer at the World Cup, on a six season contract.

UEFA Champions League winners Real Madrid on Tuesday signed Colombian and Monaco forward James Rodriguez, the top scorer at the World Cup, on a six season contract.

The fee is believed to be around 80 million euros between the two clubs.

Rodriguez, 23, scored six goals for Colombia at the World Cup to win the Golden Boot award.

With already the likes of Gareth Bale and Toni Kroos at the club, here are 5 reasons why James Rodriguez will be the next ‘galactico’ superstar at the Santiago Bernabeu:

1 – Attacking prowess:
Rodriguez was a hit at the FIFA World Cup in Brazil where he won the FIFA Golden Boot award. His attacking display especially was one of his key elements for Colombia reaching the quarters of the World Cup. Now that he is Real Madrid, the Colombian will be pooled alongside the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale which will make a ‘deadly’ trio!

2 – Superstar in the making
He was already a superstar in the recently concluded World Cup but James Rodriguez can take one step further by conquering Europe as well. Real Madrid are the holders of the UEFA Champions League and with the arrival of the Colombian, the Bernabeu side can go onto conquer Europe for coming years.

3 – Rodriguez can conquer over the likes of Luis Suarez and Messi
Rivals Barcelona landed the much controversial Luis Suarez this season from Liverpool and even though the striker is suspended, the arrival or James Rodriguez signs the competition at hand between the South American stars. But everyone knows that the Colombian star was a hit at the World Cup and it will be no sooner than the youngster will be a star in the La Liga as well.

4 – Suited for Real Madrid
His playing ability is a perfect match for the Los Blancos with the club’s strategy revolving around playing an attack minded game. Manager Carlo Ancelotti will be having a selection headache once the team sets in for the La Liga with the likes of Isco, Angel Di Maria and Gareth Bale already in the wings.

5 – His partnership with CR7
Cristiano Ronaldo and James Rodriguez – this duo will be sending in chills to the opposition defense. Ronaldo’s pace and belligerent attacking style matched with James Rodriguez’s creative style of play; Real Madrid could be one of the unstoppable teams in this year.

Watch out for James Rodriguez, the Colombian starlet who grabbed eyeballs at the FIFA World Cup in Brazil. If Barcelona have the likes of Leo Messi, Neymar (out injured) and Luis Suarez (serving ban), then Real Madrid have just advanced a step further!
