when republic day is fast approaching, we thought why not go a typical desi style and know about some lip smacking dishes across India belonging to different states that you never have heard of and must try once to impress your belly!

So yes the country that encompasses numerous varieties of cuisines all across the Indian sub-continent is the most important thing. There is a wide range of typical gastronomic delights that will spoil you to death and at times make you feel as if you just live to eat.

Kahava, Kashmir

When you go to Kashmir for a visit you will discover kahava is the staple drink to have. It is basically a green tea and mostly used as a breakfast beverage there. The green tea beverage has a great aroma and Kashmir being a cold place it is also supposed to be very good for a person’s health.

Ker Sangri, Rajasthan

This time when you go to Rajasthan, take a break from the usual daal baati choorma and try an amazing flavour of Ker Sangri ki sabzi with chappatis soaked in desi ghee. Being in Rajasthan, you just cannot stay away from the ghee part because you cannot separate the ghee from Rajasthan. This is basically a combination of dried berries and beans cooked with all yummy masalas and yoghurt.

Aaloo Gutke, Uttarakhand

If you are an aloo fan then this recipe in a typical Uttaranchal style is a must try for you. It is a regional snack prepared from pahari aaloo and cooked with spices, red chillies and coriander leaves. It is also served with cucumber raita ending up with an amazing combination!

Bhutte Ka Kees, Madhya Pradesh

If you love corn then you would have never tried it in this form. This is a dish very famous in the Malwa plateau region of the country. Prepared from the grated corns, it is more like a halwa but is not at all sweet. This is a snack relished by many people especially during the rainy season. A coriander garnish and droplets of lemon juice on freshly made hot bhutte ka kees and you are all ready to woo your belly!

Vindaloo, Goa

First of all it will be great news to know that vindaloo is the oldest, hottest dish made with red chillies in the Indian food history. A popular dish of Goa state is a spicy hot curry with a high amount of vinegar added to it. It is often made with pork, lamb, chicken, prawns or mushroom.
