It may be one of the trickiest saris to pull off, but the sheer sari is a favourite with Bollywood ladies. Appropriate for almost all occasions, the gorgeous net saris can instantly up the hot quotient. If you thought only actresses can work these, you are wrong. We tell you ways to get the sheer sari look right. Read on:

No dare-bare blouse:
Since the sari is already screaming for attention, don’t ruin the look by pairing it with a low-cut or overly sexy blouse. It will turn out to be a case of too much. Keep your blouse chic and stylish, but slightly low on the dare-bare meter, so your sari can do all the talking. You can pick a nicely embroidered blouse with details on the panels or sides. The sheer fabric will help show off your gorgeous blouse.

Get the drape right:
If you don’t have washboard abs, skip the tummy-showing drape. Even though sheer pallus should be left to hang loosely across your tummy, you can go past this rule if your stomach is not flat. We don’t want to check out your love handles and stretch marks, do we? So go for a school teacher-esque drape with your pillow neatly folded into plaits, but keep it tussled so your blouse is seen through. You can also wear your sari a notch higher and show off only your bust.

Elegant updos:
It goes without saying that the beauty of a sheer sari lies in your elegant updo. Hair left open will take the charm away from your sari. Too intricate an updo will also ruin the look, by too bold against your already risqué sari. Keep your updo elegant and messy, may be a neat bun or chignon, but nothing too complicated or fierce. Whatever you do, stay far away from beads and sequins on your head if you don’t want to look like a clown.

Bare neck:
It’s a good idea to go easy on your neck when you’re wearing sheer. This way, all the focus is on the sari and not your blingy piece. While wearing statement necklace over your sari is a damn good idea, it might clash horribly with a sari this bold. Also, your fancy blouse will look too jarring against a neck piece. If you must wear one, go for a choker so there is enough gap between the piece and your drape to make it look striking.

If sheer is not your fabric, do not wear it. Because if you can’t wear it with confidence, it will not look good on you.
