Fat Is Not Ugly! These 4 Healthy, Happy, Talented, And Successful Actresses Of B-town Prove That!

We have had some real full-figured heroines in Hindi Cinema Industry who proved that being pleasantly plump has never been an obstacle in their career path.

In this age of glam, glitz and looks, we all seem to be awed by skinny appearances.

The skinnier you are, the wanted you become.

Especially, when we talk about the b-town girls of today’s times, it seems that are in a constant combat going on to go thinner than the rest.

Every day we hear of a new diet regime cropping up, that so and so actress followed to look fit and sexy (read thorn-skinny).

Sometimes I really wonder, where exactly are we heading? Towards a boned-nation which has no substance but the skeletons of plastic fake appearances?  Whatever happened to the “Big is Beautiful” and “Fuller Women Are Desirable” kind of thoughts that pronounced REAL BEAUTY?

Well, we still have hope I guess with this salt-in-the-dish sort of few names that will rescue the world form falling prey to skinniness! And the names are from our very own tinsel town where these rock-solid actresses have made their mark with their full-bodies and some evidently superlative talent!

Let us just catch hold of each one of them here:

Sonakshi Sinha

Yes we know that she has lost oodles of weight and is all set to paint the town THIN with her newly found avatar, but here we will talk about her days when she entered the industry and she looked pleasantly plump. Despite the weight and very Indianised look that she carried, she made a substantial mark in the industry. She has given some good performances in the movies like Dabbang, Rowdy Rathore, Son of Sardar and more. Apparently, in all these flicks she made a paring against the super-stars of the industry with that plump body and looked beautiful too. In Lootera she was paired against Ranvir Singh and bowled us over with her craft. One Filmfare for best debutant actress for Dabangg and another nomination for Lootera! No, how else do we spell success? Simply put together, FAT is not ugly and not undesirable!

Parineeti Chopra

This Punjabi lass and the cousin sister of sexy thing called PC, entered the bolly industry looking like a girl next door in her not-so-sexy body and won the hearts of many. Her initial performance was in the movie Ladies Vs Ricky Behl with Ranvir Singh, a moderate box-office success, but her performance in the film garnered critical appreciation and earned her the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut and a nomination for Best Supporting Actress. The following year she played the lead female role in Ishaqzaade, a romantic drama that proved to be a critical and commercial success. She was widely praised for her role which earned her several nominations in the Best Actress category including Filmfare, and won her the National Film Award and a Special Mention. She achieved further success for her leading roles in the 2013 dramedy Shuddh Desi Romance with Sushant Singh Rathore, and the 2014 romantic comedy Hasee Toh Phasee against Siddharth Malhotra.  In her latest offering Daawat-e-Ishq, where she is pairing against Aditya Roy Kapoor, she is seen devouring the street food of Lucknow and Hyderabad to the glory, like a pro. If she had any issues with her weight she wouldn’t have accepted such role which made her look like a glutton. Where did we see her weight becoming an obstacle in her performances and success henceforth? Had it been that her body, looks or weight were an iota of a problem, she would have lost the battle even before stepping into this cut-throat industry! Right?

Vidya Balan

Vidya Balan has carved a niche for herself in Bollywood like no other actress. Often seen carrying the film entirely on her shoulders like, Kahaani, The Dirty Picture where she was made to put on a lot of weight to match the character, and the latest Bobby Jasoos, which of course didn’t bring many accolades, but Vidya has climbed the success ladder. She was also a jury member at the Cannes Film Festival held in 2013. While Vidya has been always praised for her acting, she has been criticised by the fashion police for her weight and choice of clothing. When Vidya first glammed up for Kismat Konnection against Shahid Kapoor, her choice of clothes and dressing style won her a lot of flak after which, Vidya transformed herself by sticking to wearing sarees (off screen), mainly be her favorite designer Sabyasachi. However, she wore western clothes for her recent films Ghanchakkar and Shaadi Ke Side Effects. So this saree clad woman has proved it that pure talent and exceptional craft is not at the mercy of a thin looking body! Never was, never will be!

Huma Qureshi

Huma is one of the curvaceous actresses of Bollywood and has no qualms about flaunting her curves. While she’s been a topic of discussion in the Anurag Kashyap-Kalki Koechlin breakup, she’s also discussed for her ‘weighty’ issues. But nothing of it stopped her from giving extremely memorable performances in the movies she rendered her talent to. Qureshi made her feature film debut with a supporting role in the 2012 critically acclaimed crime drama Gangs of Wasseypur – Part 1 and Part 2. Her performance won wide critical acclaim, earning several nominations in the Best Supporting Actress and Best Female Debut category including Filmfare. She further received critical acclaim for her portrayal of a range of characters, including a love ditched Punjabi doctor in Luv Shuv Te Chicken Khurana, a witch in the horror thriller Ek Thi Daayan, a RAW explosives expert in the underworld drama D-Day, and the promiscuous companion of a Begum in the black comedy thriller Dedh Ishqiya. Today she is regarded as one of the most promising newcomers in India. Is she stoppable just because she does not possess a thin sexy body? Is her talent any less just because she does not give a competition to the zero sized (well almost there) lasses of bollywood? I guess not! What do you think?

Well, we Indians have always been full-figured and loved full-figured all for the natural appeal of it. The plastic, processed, or tailor-made bodies do not really hold the charisma for long.

All this not because we want you all to stop your yoga or exercising! Keep up to it! Keep fit and healthy. Healthy body doesn’t necessarily has to be thin.
